In a Snap: Personalizing Your Pumpkins

Welcome to the first post in a new series called, “In a Snap”.

Life is busy and sometimes you have to cook, clean, or get crafty, but want to get it done quickly. This is where we'll offer tips and show you the tricks to cutting down on your busy time so you can enjoy your free time. Are you ready? Of course you are!

Pumpkins. It’s that time of year when you see them at local markets, stores, and the pop-up tents. Everyone loves a good jack-o-lantern but let’s do something a little different, something that’s small on mess but still big on style. How do we do this? Thumbtacks my friends.

As you can see from the picture I’m a southern gal who’s a sucker for monograms, but you can create whatever tickles your fancy. Simply outline your letter, or image, with pen or fine-tipped sharpie then start pushing! You’ll have your gleaming, Halloween masterpiece in no time at all.

Younger children should be supervised, but this is a pumpkin activity for everyone that takes half the time as carving, has none of the mess, and is a unique take on pumpkin decorating for the season. Use different color thumbtacks (or push pins), keep to one color, but if you’re pressed for time or just want to try something new then this is a craft for you! Once you start you’ll be done before you know it.

This is one craft you’ll be done with in a snap.
